Airports of Thailand plans to increase passenger capacity by almost two times at Suvarnabhumi Airport – Bangkok’s serving airport - the company’s acting president said recently. The expansion would involve an investment of about 72.5 billion Baht, or USD 2.4 billion, over the next seven years. The state-controlled company is expected to spend 62.5 billion Baht to expand the airport’s capacity to handle international travellers, and about 10 billion baht on infrastructure for domestic passengers by 2017, Nirandra Theeranartsin, Acting Head, Airports of Thailand said.
